Summary

The Sega Classics – 5‑in‑1 on Sega CD arrived as the very first game bundled with the add‑on, turning the launch into an instant arcade showcase. In its European release it wore the longer name *Sega Classics Arcade Collection Limited Edition* and slipped an extra title, *Super Monaco GP*, into the mix, while the earlier North American and Japanese packs stuck to the four classics. All five selections are straight ports of their Mega Drive originals, but the CD layer lets the developers sprinkle a few upgrades.

*Golden Axe* is the only title that truly leans on the disc’s audio capabilities, pulling the arcade‑board soundtrack and even adding a richer drum line, yet it oddly drops to single‑player only. *Columns* gets a fresh title theme, and *Streets of Rage* keeps its Western name while its voice clips are upgraded to CD‑quality, giving the familiar brawler a slightly crisper feel. *Revenge of Shinobi* is based on a later cartridge revision, swapping out a couple of boss sprites that once raised copyright eyebrows.

*Super Monaco GP* joins the roster with an extra drum track, rounding out a collection that, despite the “Arcade” moniker, is essentially a curated set of Genesis ports with just enough CD‑enhanced audio to remind you why the Mega CD was marketed as a multimedia upgrade.
