Summary

Crime Patrol puts me right in the shoes of a rookie cop who has to claw his way up to SWAT and eventually the elite Delta Force team. Each set of missions pairs me with a fellow officer as we hunt shoplifters, gangsters, drug lords and finally terrorists across a handful of locations, while a simple light‑gun or mouse does all the shooting. Reloading feels quirky: pull the gun off‑screen and pull the trigger, or on PC swing the cursor to the bottom‑right corner and right‑click—there’s no limit on how many times you can do it. The Sega CD version even includes a shooting‑range mode to practice aim, and completed scenes are stamped “CASE CLOSED,” though the game will automatically jump to the next case if you dawdle too long. GamePro tore it apart for wooden acting, corny dialogue, grainy video and awkward pad controls, and the planned ports for Jaguar CD, PlayStation and Saturn never saw the light of day.

Storyline

In Crime Patrol, you start as a rookie cop on the force, working your way up through the ranks. The game’s structure pushes you to neutralize threats across a variety of settings.

As a Rookie you partner with a boisterous policewoman to take down burglars, armed robbers and gang members. Promotion to Undercover pairs you with a slightly overweight male partner, and you confront drug smugglers and crime lords in a nightclub, a chop shop and an airfield. The SWAT stage pits you against bank robbers, meth cooks and outlaw bikers. Finally, as Delta Force you face national‑security threats like a hijacked shipment of nuclear material, hijacked planes and assassination plots.

Each rank is divided into three separate scenarios, and the climax is a night‑vision‑filmed mission to steal plutonium.
