Summary

Pinocchio 32X is a completed but unreleased Sega 32X version of Disney’s classic platform‑puzzle adventure. Although the original title launched in 1996 on Game Boy, SNES and Genesis, the 32X iteration never saw a commercial release because the add‑on itself never gained enough traction. The prototype distinguishes itself with fresh colour palettes and a smooth parallax scrolling effect that weren’t present on the earlier consoles. A PAL build dated December 6 1995 eventually surfaced, giving collectors a glimpse of what could have been. It remains a curious footnote in Disney’s gaming history, showcasing how hardware fortunes can shape a game’s destiny.

Storyline

Pinocchio 32X tells its tale through intertitles that read like a children’s storybook, giving players a whimsical narrative between stages. The adventure begins with Pinocchio leaving home and facing a simple fork: head to School or wander down Easy Street, a choice that merely changes the visual cue and does not alter the order of levels.

From there the puppet‑boy finds himself in Stromboli’s marionette show, then is swept onto the chaotic Pleasure Island before plunging into the ocean depths. In the final underwater segment Pinocchio dives into the belly of Monstro, rescues Geppetto, and the duo manages a daring escape back to safety.
