Play NBA Jam - Tournament Edition Online

Summary

NBA Jam Tournament Edition on the Sega 32X feels like the arcade’s high‑octane spirit squeezed into a cartridge. The roster expands to three players per team, letting you swap a tired star between quarters, and even the occasional shove can cause injuries that force a sub. Those little tactical choices keep the classic two‑on‑two chaos fresh without sacrificing the fast‑play that made the original a hit.

The 32X version is a treasure trove of hidden faces – you can unlock the then‑President Bill Clinton, First Lady Hillary Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, and even Atari’s own Leonard Tramiel on the Jaguar port. Earlier test cabinets hinted at Mortal Kombat fighters like Scorpion and Sub‑Zero, but the NBA demanded they disappear before release.

Critics gave it an 8.25 score, with GamePro noting that while Genesis owners might skip it, the 32X still delivers the series’ signature excitement. Electronic Gaming Monthly praised it as the most accurate arcade conversion yet, and Next Generation awarded three out of five stars, reminding us it shines just as brightly on 16‑bit hardware.
