Summary

The 32X version of Doom delivers a stripped‑down but still frantic port of the legendary shooter. Built on the code that powered the Atari Jaguar edition, it omits some levels and features found in the original PC and console releases, giving the cartridge a tighter footprint. Graphics are tweaked for the add‑on’s dual‑processor architecture, yielding crisp, sprite‑based monsters that still pack a punch. Sound retains the game’s iconic, low‑bit riffs, albeit in a reduced arrangement. For anyone with a retro 32X collection, it’s a compact glimpse of the DOOM legacy that still works on the old console.

Storyline

In Doom on the Sega 32X, you’re a lone space‑marine stationed aboard the Union Aerospace Corporation’s research outpost orbiting Mars. Suddenly, a portal opens and an invasion of hellish demons pours through.

The station quickly becomes a blood‑splattered slaughterhouse as the creatures tear through corridors and labs. Armed with a shotgun, chaingun and plasma rifle, you fight back, blasting through hordes to close the gateway and survive.
