The Lost World: Jurassic Park on PlayStation feels like a love‑letter to the film’s chaotic jungle, but it’s wrapped in a side‑scroller that lets you hop between five very different avatars. You can scuttle as a tiny Compsognathus, stalk prey as a Velociraptor, roar through levels as a T. rex, or grab a gun as the human hunter and finally sprint as Sarah Harding trying to escape the island. Each character has its own set of pickups – dinosaurs munch on food to stay strong while the humans hunt for gas canisters, health packs and even rocket launchers – and the levels must be cleared in order, rewarding you with DNA bonuses that unlock storyboard art and, if you’re thorough, a secret video of Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm cheering you on. The game runs on DreamWorks Interactive’s Morf‑X engine; although the engine could render true 3D worlds, the developers deliberately chose 2D gameplay for tighter controls and a simpler camera. A standout is Michael Giacchino’s orchestral score, recorded with a 40‑piece orchestra, and the massive sound library of 1,400 effects that give each of the 23 creatures a distinct roar. Storyline

The Lost World: Jurassic Park for PlayStation deliberately sidesteps the movie’s storyline, placing players on the infamous "Site B"—also known as Isla Sorna, InGen’s original dinosaur breeding ground. Each selectable character experiences a unique survival tale amid more than twenty dinosaur species, creating a chaotic island atmosphere.

Playable dinosaur chapters have you roaming different island zones, fending off rival predators and relentless InGen hunters, while the Human Hunter missions shift to more urban settings such as an underground complex, a geothermal centre, and an InGen laboratory, all aimed at eradicating the dinosaur threat.

The climax sees Sarah Harding escaping the island aboard a cargo ship. Collecting every DNA bonus unlocks a secret ending video featuring Jeff Goldblum reprising Ian Malcolm, who congratulates the player on their achievement.
