Summary

Space Jam on the original PlayStation brings the chaos of the film onto the screen with a quirky blend of basketball and mini‑games. You can choose the heroic TuneSquad, complete with Michael Jordan’s help, or the alien Monstars, and every matchup is a fast‑paced 3‑on‑3 that skirts real‑world basketball rules. The core matches feel like a stripped‑down basketball sim, while the mini‑games are tucked in to keep the action flowing between baskets.

The title leans on basic controls and flat 2D sprites, a look that felt dated even at launch. Sculptured Software built the game and Acclaim, fresh off NBA Jam, pushed it, but reviewers panned it for shallow gameplay, unbalanced characters, and lackluster graphics. Scores ranged from a meager 1 / 5 to a middling 7 / 10, reflecting the general consensus that the experience was more novelty than lasting fun.

Storyline

Space Jam on PlayStation drops you into the ultimate pick‑up basketball showdown. Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Lola Bunny team up with retired NBA legend Michael Jordan to face off against a squad of outlandish alien Monstars, and the Looney Tunes’ livelihood hangs in the balance.

Before the court action, Daffy Duck tackles a quirky mini‑game: he must hunt down pieces of Jordan’s uniform while dodging the family dog Charles. Between quarters you can jump into extra challenges like Shoot Out, Space Race and Hall of Hijinx, each adding a fresh twist to the intergalactic hoops vibe.

After the second quarter, Bugs Bunny gets his turn, searching for water bottles that hold Michael’s secret stuff, keeping the momentum—and the humor—flowing as the match races toward its climax.
