Storyline

Set in 1999, the PlayStation title Silver Case (often called Silver Jiken) drops players into Tokyo’s fictional Ward 24, where a string of bizarre murders echoes the infamous 1979 "Silver Case" killings. The Heinous Crimes Unit—detectives Tetsugoro Kusabi, Sumio Kodai, Chizuru Hachisuka, Kiyoshi Morikawa, Morichika Nakategawa, chief Shinji Kotobuki and a rookie player character—pursues the new crimes, suspecting the legendary assassin Kamui Uehara, who was believed dead after his 1979 spree. The narrative splits into two parallel threads: the "Transmitter" scenario follows Kusabi’s team as they chase the killer, while the "Placebo" scenario tracks freelance journalist Tokio Morishima as he reports on the investigation and wrestles with his own issues. The remastered edition adds the "Yami" scenario, set months after the main events, and the "Whiteout Prologue," which takes place after a time skip, both expanding the aftermath of the case.
