Summary
Rockman Complete Works brought the entire classic NES lineup to the PlayStation in 1999, but only Japanese gamers ever got to grab them. Each entry—from the original Blue Bomber’s debut up through the sixth installment—was faithfully rebuilt with a few modern tweaks. The series stood out thanks to extras like a PocketStation uplink, a searchable Robot Master database, a brand‑new “easy” difficulty mode, and fully remixed music tracks that breathed fresh life into the chiptune scores. After the initial launch, the 2003 re‑release stripped out the PocketStation functionality, leaving the core remakes and their bonus features intact for later collectors. Even though I never saw a North‑American release, it’s fascinating how Capcom preserved every classic enemy, boss, and weapon while giving longtime fans a convenient way to revisit the entire saga on a single console.
Storyline
Rockman (also known as Mega Man) follows Dr. Wily's scheme to seize the world by reprogramming six of Dr. Light's helper robots. The only robot left untouched is Rock, Dr. Light's trusted assistant.
Determined to stop Wily, Light upgrades Rock into a combat‑capable fighter, birthing the hero known as Rockman. Now the player must guide Rockman through Wily's army of rogue machines, dismantling each threat and putting an end to the villain's plan before it's too late.
