Summary

Rayman on PlayStation dazzles with its colorful side‑scrolling world. I’m constantly amazed by Rayman's goofy big nose and the fact that he has no arms or legs – he dashes, hovers with his hair, and punches foes using his floating fists, even winding up for a heavy blow. Occasionally you snag power‑ups that grant endless flight, letting you zip through maze‑like stages without touching the ground. The game’s whimsical scenery ranges from stationery‑filled Eraser Plains to musically‑themed Band Land, all hinting at the larger magical universe Michel Ancel created for Ubisoft. Because it landed on the original PlayStation, Rayman still pops up on the PlayStation Classic’s pre‑loaded lineup, and fans got a fresh boost with the 30th Anniversary Edition release in 2026.

Storyline

In the original PlayStation release, Rayman – the limbless, magical hero – is called to stop the chaos unleashed when the evil Mr. Dark steals the Great Protoon. By taking the Protoon, Mr Dark throws the world into disorder and even defeats the fairy Betilla, who had been supplying Rayman with powers.

Scattered across the realms, the Electoons must be rescued, and Rayman gathers Tings for extra lives while unlocking new abilities such as powerful Fists and a Helicopter. The friendly Magician appears throughout the journey, offering special minigames that aid Rayman's quest. Ultimately Rayman confronts and defeats Mr Dark, restoring balance to his world.
