Summary

Punky Skunk throws you into a flashy 2‑D side‑scroller where an extreme‑sports‑obsessed skunk battles the villainous wolf Badler across 30 quirky levels. Players sprint, jump, and blast enemies with a “spray” while swapping among six goofy gadgets—a paraglider, inline skates, skysurfer, pogo stick, jetpack, or diggers—to tackle sky, land, water, and underground segments. Collectible stars, extra‑life 1‑ups, and green health orbs pepper each stage, and a simple three‑button scheme lets you pause for a quick gear change before spotting the flagpole that marks the finish. The game even saves progress on a PlayStation memory card, letting you pick up right where you left off.

Born from Ukiyotei’s ambition to create a mascot platformer for younger Western audiences, the title originally sprouted on the Super Famicom before shifting to the PlayStation’s newer hardware. Critics slammed its visuals, audio, and clunky gameplay, resulting in mixed to poor scores, yet the character’s quirky charm earned a wave of merch—shirts, mugs, masks—released in 2021, keeping the nostalgic oddball alive for collectors.

Storyline

Players control the anthropomorphic skunk Punky in a side‑scrolling action‑platform adventure. Their goal is to topple the wolf Badler and his BB Brigade army.

Badler commands mouse‑like Chews that spread industry and machinery, polluting a chain of island archipelagos. Punky is aided by two companions, Nash and Kelly, who help in the fight.

Together they travel across the islands, battling the BB Brigade and trying to stop the environmental devastation. The ultimate objective is to save the world from Badler’s toxic plans.
