Pocket Fighter is the PlayStation spin‑off of Capcom’s quirky Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, retaining the chibi‑style fighters while trimming a few arcade visual flairs to fit the console’s memory limits. The version swaps in fresh modes – a Character Edit screen that lets you mix‑and‑match parts, and a fast‑paced Running Battle mode that pushes you through a gauntlet of opponents without breaks. Gameplay revolves around a bright gem‑collecting system: land hits, watch gems burst from your foe and use them to boost three colored special moves shown on the Gem gauges. Each match also features elemental orbs (ice, lightning, etc.) that can freeze, stone or otherwise handicap the opponent, plus occasional treasure chests and food for health recovery. Storyline

Pocket Fighter on PlayStation gathers a bizarre roster of Street Fighter heroes each on their own off‑beat quest. Ryu, a wandering martial artist, searches for Tessa hoping she’ll guide him to worthy opponents, only to be sent into a deadly battle with Hauzer. Ken, drifting apart from his wife Eliza after their honeymoon, pursues a tea date with a beautiful woman, wins a challenge with Morrigan, and then faces Eliza’s furious attack.

Zangief, a Sambo and wrestling pro, begs pop‑star Felicia to launch a Russian tour; after a fight she agrees, delighting the Russian president. Chun‑Li, an Interpol officer, mistakes Felicia for a missing zoo animal and then continues a hunt for the real cat‑woman. Ibuki, a ninja girl, seeks Sakura for an ice‑cream clue, ends up fighting Guy in Harajuku, and declines a baked‑potato offer.

Meanwhile Hsien‑Ko and her sister Mei‑Ling chase Zangief for a part‑time job, Dan tries to recruit Sakura as his first student, and Akuma looks for a new training ground after his island turns into an amusement park. All these odd adventures give Pocket Fighter its whimsical, light‑hearted tone.
