Summary

Pac‑Man World (often just called Pac‑Man) brings the iconic dot‑muncher into a colorful 3D platform adventure on the PlayStation. The game is split into six themed worlds—pirate coasts, spooky ruins, jungle temples and more—each packed with four (or three) distinct levels that blend classic maze routes, puzzle segments and boss battles. Pac‑Man can bust crates with his signature butt‑bounce, sprint up ramps on rev‑roll, and even wear a metal suit for underwater exploration. Hidden Galaxian flagships pop open flat mazes that echo the original arcade play; conquering all 36 unlocks a concept‑art gallery. Players also hunt letters spelling “PACMAN” to reach secret bonus stages. Developed from a scrapped prototype shown at E3 ’97, the title earned an 81% aggregate score, selling over 1.25 million copies in North America and cementing its nostalgic yet fresh appeal.

Storyline

In Pac‑Man World, Pac‑Man travels to Ghost Island after an impostor posing as the real Pac‑Man kidnaps his family. He must explore six distinct worlds, gathering keys and rescuing captive family members hidden in each area. After freeing all relatives in a world, Pac‑Man faces that world’s boss before moving on. The journey builds toward a final showdown with the true antagonist, Toc‑Man, who orchestrated the kidnapping. Defeating Toc‑Man restores peace to Ghost Island and reunites Pac‑Man with his family.
