Summary

Mort the Chicken throws you into a chaotic farm where a quirky super‑chicken battles odd‑shaped cubes to save stolen chicklets. Armed with a comb‑whip and a beak that pecks power‑ups, Mort swings, jumps and even grows giant, while two stalks of corn shrink to show his dwindling health. Every hit lets a cube snatch another chick, so each level feels like a frantic rescue mission with up to ten feathered prizes hidden among eggs and chicken food.
The game sprinkles classic platform tricks – higher jumps, attract‑chick power, and even neck‑whip extensions – giving the experience a light‑hearted charm that contrasts its often harsh difficulty spikes. Reviews at the time were largely negative, citing repetitiveness, yet the offbeat humor has kept Mort a nostalgic footnote among collectors.
In a delightful callback, Mort flashes up as a power‑up in Pizza Tower’s "Fun Farm" stage, granting double jumps and hook launches. Creator Ed Annunziata approved the cameo, tying the ’99 PlayStation oddity to modern indie buzz and cementing its quirky legacy.

Storyline

In the quirky world of Mort the Chicken, chickens dominate society and the hero even has his own TV show.

The peace is shattered when cube‑shaped beings called the Boolyon, led by General Cubicles, mistake the chickens’ hay piles for abducted citizens from their own dimension. Believing they must retaliate, the Boolyon open a portal through a well and launch an invasion, snatching the baby chicks and scattering them across their strange universe.

Undaunted, Mort volunteers to dive down the well. He embarks on a platform‑hopping quest across bizarre levels, rescuing the chicks and thwarting the Boolyon’s plans.
