Summary
Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius: Forever With Me got a serious facelift for the PlayStation. The graphics and sound were upgraded from the Super Famicom version, and a handy cheat swaps the "Tokimeki People's Dance" track with the richer "Days Of The Dream's Memories". New "Omake" stages and unlockable characters like Dracula‑kun and Kid Dracula appear when you collect every hidden fairy. For the first time the game lets two people play side‑by‑side instead of taking turns, while a second female announcer, voiced by Noriko Ohara, adds live commentary (she also narrates the new "Accident" mode, where stages are filled with polygonal foes). The whole soundtrack was re‑arranged and a second announcer was added. The PlayStation build later resurfaced on the Parodius Portable PSP compilation, but that version removed multiplayer, tweaked difficulty and swapped out a few music tracks.
Storyline
Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius: Forever With Me (often just called Parodius Forever) follows a quirky quest for a legendary takoyaki that appears only once every 128 years. The story is set in 1996 when Mr. Parodius, the octopus from the original 1990 Parodius, summons his eldest son Takosuke—hero of Gokujō Parodius (1994)—to retrieve the coveted snack. Takosuke then delegates the job to his brother Takohiko, the second of four octopus siblings, explaining that the family has backups in case anything goes wrong. As Takohiko ventures out, he joins a cast of characters either hunting the takoyaki themselves or tagging along with someone else on the hunt. Gameplay mirrors classic side‑scroll shooters, with the player piloting a character through scrolling stages and blasting enemy squadrons along the way.
