Summary
The PlayStation title Gubble drops you into a whimsically colorful world where an alien mechanic must dismantle everything that holds a futuristic ship together. Your only weapons are an amusing assortment of carpenter’s tools—a hammer, screwdriver, drill, and even a sledgehammer—that let you pry nails, unscrew bolts and shatter obstructing rocks while enemy critters swarm the area.
The game spans ten distinct “cities,” each packed with maze‑like levels called zymbots. These puzzles sprinkle in bonus zymbots that act as mini‑games and special zymbots that crank up the difficulty, keeping the pacing fresh as you jump from one frantic deconstruction to the next.
Originally a 1997 PlayStation exclusive, Gubble resurfaced on the PlayStation Store in September 2011, offering retro fans a chance to experience its non‑violent, fast‑paced puzzling again. Its charming visuals and lighthearted tool‑wielding mechanics still make it a quirky gem for anyone who enjoys a clever brain‑teaser wrapped in sci‑fi charm.
Storyline
Gubble on PlayStation follows the alien Gubble D. Gleep as he is dispatched to the fictional planet Rennigar. His mission is to remove the zymbots that space pirates have fastened across the world. The game centers on navigating Rennigar’s varied terrain while hunting down each rogue zymbot. As Gubble clears the infestations, the planet gradually returns to its natural state.
