Summary
Frogger 2 (often just called Frogger 2) takes the classic frog‑hopping formula into fully realized 3D stages spread across six distinct environments. Players pick either Frogger or Lillie, each sharing moves like regular hops, a super‑jump that can be chained into a double jump, a croak beacon that highlights hidden checkpoint frogs, and a tongue that can snatch insects for points or extra lives. Levels are linear with no timer, but a results screen grades you on speed, and each arena hides 25 collectible coins that unlock bonus modes or secret characters. Five tiny frog icons act as checkpoints throughout each level, and a modest handful of multiplayer options let two friends (or up to four via multitap) compete or cooperate. Developed by Blitz Games and published by Hasbro Interactive, the title feels like a polished, family‑friendly platformer that expands the nostalgic Frogger experience without overwhelming it.
Storyline
In Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge, the vengeful crocodile Swampy kidnaps the baby frog siblings of Frogger’s girlfriend, Lillie Frog, forcing the pair into a frantic rescue across multiple worlds. Their chase takes them from familiar swampy terrain to outer space, where Swampy hijacks a satellite to air a commercial for his own title, Swampy: The Game, and Frogger rockets after him in a craft Lillie activates. The showdown occurs in a space station that shunts them back to Earth on Halloween, leading to a haunted‑house factory where Swampy plans to turn the captured babies into a new game.
Inside the eerie factory, Frogger and Lillie are trapped in a cage lowered toward a magma pit, but a baby frog named Tad accidentally meddles with the controls, freeing the duo and releasing the other siblings. Tad’s interference wrecks the machine, triggers an earthquake, and causes the factory and mansion to explode. As the wreckage smolders, a UFO departs the scene while Swampy wails, leaving the frogs watching from a hill.
