Summary

Expert drops you into a sleek, early‑90s first‑person shooter that feels like a PlayStation‑born cousin of DOOM. As a member of a tight‑knit elite unit, you’re tasked with breaching a 100‑story skyscraper that’s been seized by terrorists.

The game hands you full control of the vertical battlefield, letting you scout rooms, keep an eye on a simple sub‑screen for weapons, items and maps, and free hostages before enemies overwhelm you. Weapon choice matters—pick the load‑out your squad‑mate offers or watch the difficulty climb sharply.

A minimalist HUD keeps the action raw, while the ability to freely roam each floor gives a satisfying sense of scale. Though primitive by today’s standards, Expert’s intense, corridor‑to‑corridor combat and hostage‑rescue missions make it a nostalgic reminder of what early console FPSes could achieve.

Storyline

In Expert, you play as Takua Kudo, a 26‑year‑old member of an elite counter‑terrorism unit. The team is dropped into a 100‑story skyscraper seized by terrorists and must clear each floor while completing objectives. The core gameplay revolves around rescuing hostages held by the enemy and neutralizing threats.

Your squad includes Captain Shuichi Akagi, a murder‑technique specialist; former programmer Yosuke Ozaki, bomb‑disposal expert; Masahiko Katori, weapons‑supply guru; and fellow combatant Ken Tamaki. They answer to Director Nobuhiko Goto, the head of the secret EXPERT division. Together they tackle a series of high‑stakes missions, using each member’s expertise to survive the vertical gauntlet.
