Summary
Dreams to Reality (on PlayStation known simply as "Dreams") drops you into surreal dreamscapes where you guide Duncan from a third‑person view. You can walk, swim, even take to the air, and a handful of magic abilities let you experiment with combat or puzzles in many ways.
The developers aimed for freedom: producer Olivier Denes recalled watching a woman say she loved the ability to fly, while a man preferred shooting, so the game supplies both. This variety shows in the level design, which blends adventure puzzles with platforming sections.
Critics were split. Spanish outlet Meristation and Level 06 highlighted the game’s polish and memorable moments, whereas PC Gamer UK and PC Powerplay dismissed it as an unsatisfying mix, even labeling it a “stinker.” Overall the PlayStation version earned middling scores around the 60‑80% range.
Storyline
In Dreams to Reality you play as Duncan, a lone hero tasked with rescuing both the Dream world and the realm of Reality from a looming dark force. The game lets you soar between floating islands in the sky and even create a clone of yourself to solve puzzles. Along the way you meet peaceful, talkative creatures who offer guidance, while hostile beings aim to strip away your will and must be defeated.
Your journey is a mix of jumping, running, and exploration across ancient landscapes as you hunt for the legendary Well of Mankind’s Dreams. The ultimate goal is to stop the evil faction that seeks to dominate subconscious reality and restore balance between the two worlds.
