Summary
Disney's Tarzan is a 2.5‑D side‑scroll platformer that uses three‑dimensional models on a flat plane, immersing players in a jungle world across fourteen levels.
As both child and adult, you fling fruits overhand or underhand to stun monkeys, baboons, eagles and Clayton, while occasionally picking up a knife, spear or parasol for melee, and a ground‑slam cracks hidden crates. Banana piles refill the life bar.
There are easy, medium and hard settings; on easy and medium a chatty Terk gives tips, whereas hard strips the guidance for a tougher run.
Collect 100 coins for an extra life, hunt four sketch pieces to unlock a bonus stage, and locate the letters T‑A‑R‑Z‑A‑N to unlock movie clips.
Reviewers liked the vibrant graphics and faithful movie feel, earning a gold sales award in the UK for over 200 k units. It may not push genre limits, but it stays a charming retro pick.
Storyline
In Disney's Tarzan for PlayStation, you step into the shoes of the orphaned boy raised by a gorilla family. The early levels have you as a youngster learning to climb trees, swing on vines and fend off small, aggressive wildlife under the guidance of your primate mentors. As the game progresses you mature into the legendary Tarzan, gaining strength and agility. The climax pits you against a band of ruthless hunters, led by the villainous Clayton, who threaten the jungle home of you and your animal brothers. Your mission is to protect the forest and drive the hunters away.
