Summary
Darkstone (known in North America simply as Darkstone) delivers classic hack‑and‑slash thrills on the PlayStation. Four distinct classes – warrior, wizard, thief and monk – each bring a unique combat style, while a pool of over 30 weapons and 32 spells keeps every run feeling fresh. The game shuffles dungeons, quests, and loot each playthrough, and four difficulty tiers multiply the grind, guaranteeing endless replay value.
A fully fleshed village serves as a training ground and trading hub, offering everything from potions to equipment repair, and even cursed gear that can randomly dump your inventory. Cooperative mode lets up to three friends join the fight against Lord Draak’s henchmen, making the frantic battles through eight characters in 32 environments even more intense. Whether you’re battling fire‑breathing foes or managing hunger, Darkstone’s smooth mechanics and high‑score loot drops keep the adventure addictive.
Storyline
The world of Uma lies under the dark shadow of the dragon Draak, whose return has revived the cursed Darkstone that leeches life from the land. Villagers turn to stone while armies of skeletons, swarms of wasps and lumbering ogres roam the four regions—Ardyl, Marghor, Omar and Serkesh. As the lone adventurer you must gather the seven legendary crystals scattered across dungeons and castles to rebuild the Time Orb and finally confront Draak in his lair.
Four crystals of different virtues—Wisdom, Virtue, Bravery, Nobility, Compassion, Integrity and Strength—are hidden after completing quests and solving traps, curses and puzzles. The hermit Sebastian reassembles them into the crystal Time Orb, the only weapon capable of ending the dragon’s fire‑breathing menace. Players can choose from a warrior/Amazon, wizard/sorceress, assassin/thief or monk/priestess, each bringing a distinct playstyle to the epic battle.
When the Darkstone erupts in the starting village, the bright palette shifts to oppressive purples, signaling the urgent need to restore balance. The game’s combat is fierce, but the adventure rewards teamwork and clever exploration. Darkstone delivers a retro RPG experience that blends classic dungeons, elemental crystals, and a fight between good and evil.
