Summary
Barbie Race & Ride drops you into a breezy stable where the first job is grooming and feeding ponies with apples, carrots, strawberries or sugar cubes before you head out for a gentle ride around Secret Valley’s beaches, meadows, mountains and forests.
Once you finish a short riding lesson you pick one of four colour‑coded horses—Buttercup, Sweetie, etc.—and explore four zones. Races are only on the Beach and Meadow; the other areas hide puzzles, mini‑games and postcard fragments. In two‑player mode the grooming steps are skipped, and a hidden Secret Ranch holds a foal you must find to complete the game.
Reviews were polarized: Daily Radar labeled it a “DUD,” a French outlet gave it 6 % for its crude look, while GameSpot UK’s Janet Valentine awarded 7.9/10, noting it delivered plenty for its young audience. Its equestrian mechanics also made it a spiritual predecessor to the later Barbie Horse Adventures series.
Storyline
In Barbie: Race & Ride, players can uncover a hidden location called the Secret Ranch. Exploring this area lets you find a foal, and locating the foal marks the game's win condition.
