Summary

Armored Core drops you into a third‑person mecha shooter where every machine is a sandbox of parts. Thanks to Shōji Kawamori’s “core block” concept, you can swap legs for speed, swap weapons—from lasers to swords—and even change the cockpit layout, all funded by credits earned after each mission. The missions themselves are sprawling, from desert outposts to orbital stations, and enemies can pop up from any direction, forcing you to keep an eye on every angle. Storyline

Armored Core takes place on a future Earth scarred by the Great Destruction, a cataclysmic war that wiped out most of humanity. The few survivors were forced underground for fifty years, during which time the corporations Chrome and Murakumo Millennium rose to power and entered a relentless struggle for supremacy. This corporate clash creates a constant demand for independent mercenaries known as Ravens, who operate through the neutral Ravens' Nest.

The player assumes the role of a Raven, passing the Raven Test at the Nest’s training ground and receiving a message from the operator "R" to begin taking contracts from the warring corporations. After each mission the AC can be customized, and the player may also receive correspondence from Char, a Murakumo agent, as the missions grow increasingly difficult.

Eventually both corporations collapse, and the Nest itself issues a final mission that appears to be a trap. The Raven must fight resistance inside the Nest, destroy two Nine‑Ball AI units, and finally bring down the Nest’s system core.
