Summary

Yes! PreCure 5 on the Nintendo DS turns the colorful world of the anime into a turn‑based strategy playground. You guide the five Pretty Cure team members across a grid‑based battlefield, tapping the touch screen to move, attack, or use special abilities. Each turn feels like a puzzle, as you position the Cures to block or flank the computer‑controlled Nightmare forces and their quirky minions, the Kowaina.

The game leans on the series’ third‑generation Cures, whose motifs of dreams, hopes and butterflies give each character a distinct visual flair that translates well to the DS’s sprite work. While the anime’s story isn’t retold, the familiar character designs and upbeat aesthetic provide a comforting backdrop for fans.

Battles are quick but demand careful planning; the AI’s Nightmare units will try to overwhelm you if you leave gaps. Mastering the touch‑screen controls and learning each Cure’s strengths is the key to keeping the darkness at bay and feeling the satisfaction of a well‑executed strategy.

Storyline

In Yes! PreCure 5, middle‑schooler Nozomi Yumehara discovers a magical book called the Dream Collet in her school library. The fairy Coco from the Palmier Kingdom appears and explains that his friend Natts is trapped inside, and that the kingdom has been shattered by the evil Nightmare organization. Determined to help, Nozomi collects the 55 Pinkies needed to complete the Dream Collet, receives a Pinky Catch from a pink butterfly, and transforms into Cure Dream. She then recruits four other students—Cure Rouge, Cure Lemonade, Cure Mint and Cure Aqua—to form the Yes! Pretty Cure 5 team and battle Nightmare’s members, including leader Desparaia, secretary Kawarino the chameleon, and a host of insect‑themed henchmen.

The sequel, Yes! PreCure 5 GoGo!, shifts focus to the hidden Cure Rose Garden, guarded by Flora. The art‑obsessed Eternal organization invades the Palmier Kingdom and its four neighboring realms to seize the Rose Pact. Flora sends a plea to the Cures, who must locate four fleeing rulers holding the Rose Garden Keys. Joined by Milk—who becomes human Kurumi Mimino and the alter ego Milky Rose via a blue rose—and the bird‑like fairy Syrup, the team confronts Eternal’s Director and his crew, including Scorp, the final boss.

Both games pit the Pretty Cures against distinct villain groups—Nightmare seeking the Dream Collet for despair, and Eternal hunting the Rose Garden for treasure—while expanding the magical world and its colorful allies.
