Summary
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 on the Nintendo DS surprised me with a more frantic feel than its console cousins. It uses the DS buttons for moves, skips the touch‑screen gimmick, and even shifts the camera higher so the action feels “larger‑than‑life.” The Ambulance match makes its debut, and the whole experience runs noticeably faster, keeping the on‑screen action razor‑sharp.
What really hooked me was the overhaul of the Creation tools. A Story Designer lets you script your own arcs while the expanded Create‑a‑Finisher includes aerial combos. The handheld adds a collectible‑card system: swipe‑activated power‑ups can summon interference or unlock new wrestler parts. With 30 superstars, 14 backstage zones for Brawl matches, and even a trip to Mr. McMahon’s office, the DS version feels like a compact, yet deep, WWE universe in my pocket.
Storyline
The Road to WrestleMania mode in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 brings six brand‑new stories to the DS. Players can dive into a Diva‑focused tale with Mickie James, a personalized storyline for a created wrestler, and a co‑op “Brand Warfare” saga starring Triple H and John Cena. The remaining arcs follow Edge, Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton, each branching through interactive cut‑scenes that lead up to WrestleMania 25.
The DS version revamps the story experience even further. You’ll compete in matches across the various narratives, boost your created superstar’s stats, treat injuries, and even pay a visit to WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon’s office for extra drama. All of this adds depth to the handheld’s wrestling adventure.
