Summary

WarioWare D.I.Y. puts user‑generated content front and center, letting anyone build a micro‑game from the ground up. You decide the characters, the setting, the actions and even the win condition, then watch it come to life with just a few taps.

The main menu is split into five handy hubs: the D.I.Y. Studio for crafting games, WarioWare Inc. for tutorials, the D.I.Y. Shop where you stamp your creations onto virtual cartridges, the Options Garage for personal tweaks, and the Distribution Center for swapping titles. The NinSoft store in the Distribution Center also offers extra goodies.

Music creation is surprisingly quirky – you can hum into the DS microphone and the system translates your pitch into notes, then assign them to oddball instruments like pig squeaks, a nod to the old Mario Paint vibe. Before Nintendo Wi‑Fi Connection shut down in 2014, you could upload your games for contests or download community‑made “Big Name Games.”

Beyond the sandbox, the cartridge ships with 167 pre‑made microgames starring the usual WarioWare cast – Mona, Jimmy T., Ashley, Orbulon, the Volt twins, Dribble & Spitz, Kat & Ana, and Wario‑Man – each packed with the rapid‑fire humor that defines the series.

Storyline

One night Dr. Crygor dreams of playing on a console that looks like a Wii with a Classic Controller, only to have the on‑screen characters burst out and cause a chaotic stampede. He awakens with a flash of inspiration and builds the Super MakerMatic 21, a device that can instantly create Nintendo DS games, Wii titles, comic books, graphic novels, and even music tracks. While the machine is being assembled in his lab, Wario wanders in with a broken TV he wants repaired, mistakes the MakerMatic for another television, and learns about its game‑making powers. Realizing the profit potential, Wario revives WarioWare, Inc. and launches a new branch called Wario‑Man Software, but discovers that many key staff—Mona, Jimmy T., Ashley & Red, Orbulon, and 9‑Volt—have jumped ship to rival Diamond Software and its subsidiaries. With only a handful of allies left—Penny, Young Cricket, Master Mantis, Dribble, Spitz, Kat, Ana, and 18‑Volt—Wario hires the player, a shop manager, to help churn out games, books, and records using the Super MakerMatic 21 in WarioWare D.I.Y.
