Summary
Vampire Knight DS brings the glossy world of the shōjo manga to the Nintendo DS in the form of a dating simulator. Players step into the moonlit academy, navigating a web of rivalries and romance while the handheld’s dual screens display striking character art and hidden-choice menus. The title, released in Japan by D3 Publisher in January 2009, packs the series’ gothic atmosphere into bite‑sized episodes, letting fans test their resolve against the series’ iconic vampire and human factions. Though never officially localized, the game’s blend of visual‑novel storytelling and touch‑screen prompts offers a snapshot of how handheld titles could marry anime fan service with interactive courtship mechanics.
Storyline
Vampire Knight DS follows Yuki Cross, whose first memory is a vampire attack that was stopped by the enigmatic Kaname Kuran, himself a vampire. Ten years later she returns to Cross Academy, now a guardian alongside the vampire hunter Zero Kiryu, tasked with keeping the secret coexistence of the Day Class and the Night Class. Yuki soon learns that Zero has spent four years battling his own transformation into a vampire, only to finally give in to the curse. Determined, she fights to curb his bloodlust while piecing together her own fragmented memories. Throughout, Yuki suspects that Kaname is withholding crucial information about both their pasts.
