Storyline

Set in a Norse‑inspired world, Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume follows Wylfred, whose father Thyodor was taken by the Valkyrie Lenneth as an einherjar. The loss leaves his wife Margot maddened and his sister Elsie starving, driving Wylfred to become a mercenary and cling to Lenneth’s feather as a reminder of revenge.\nDuring a mission he is mortally wounded, only to be revived by the queen of Niflheim, Hel, who grants him the Destiny Plume—Lenneth’s feather infused with dark power. The Plume strengthens his companion Ancel enough to survive, but its power kills Ancel instantly, and Wylfred is escorted to safety by Ailyth, Hel’s liaison.\nPlayer choices shape the narrative: never using the Plume reveals Ailyth as Hel’s hound Garm, lets Ancel return as an einherjar, and ends with Wylfred repairing his sister’s music box and healing his mother. Using the Plume once or repeatedly leads to confrontations with Freya and Odin, differing fates for Lenneth, and possible eternal torment in Niflheim.
