Summary
Utacchi is Konami’s rhythm adventure for the Nintendo DS, tucked into the Pop'n Music family and released only in Japan. You hold the DS like a book and tap, flick, hold or rub the stylus on falling notes that stream down one, three, or five lanes. The four note colors dictate those actions—red for a tap, yellow for a tap‑plus‑up‑flick, blue for a hold, and green for a vertical rub.
Each correctly timed hit raises a life bar; Good and Okay grades boost it while Boo drains it, and you need at least two‑thirds full to clear a song. Lanes can be set to Simple or Difficult on the 1‑ and 3‑lane settings, while the 5‑lane stage offers only the harder difficulty. Aside from the standard play, the game swaps the vocal track for your own recorded voice (Vocal Play) or evaluates live singing via the built‑in mic in a karaoke mode that simply watches for sound.
The initial unlock list reads like a nostalgic J‑pop parade: from the iconic “Cruel Angel’s Thesis” to the upbeat “Anpanman March” and anime themes like “Genesis of Aquarion.” Up to four friends can jam together through DS link or download play, turning a single‑player experience into a portable music party.
