Summary

Transformers Animated: The Game brings the cartoon's vibe to the DS with bright 3‑D sprites that still scroll on a classic side‑scroller plane. I spend each level jumping between robot and vehicle forms while dodging Decepticon hoverbots and racing through neon‑lit Detroit streets. The title mixes action‑adventure and brain‑teasing puzzles, forcing you to switch between Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Prowl to use their special tools—Optimus’s axe and grappling hook, Bumblebee’s electric stingers and wall‑jump, Bulkhead’s wrecking ball, and Prowl’s covert hacks.

There are 25 levels split into Mission and Race modes, and the puzzle rooms feel a lot like The Lost Vikings, where cooperation is key. Boss encounters with Lockdown and Megatron require stacking each Autobot’s skill, turning every fight into a short logic challenge. The game managed to capture the series’ humor and high‑tech feel while staying compact enough for portable play.

Storyline

Transformers Animated: The Game lets you relive two key arcs from the TV series. In the first half you battle rogue security bots that have gone haywire inside the Sumdac factories, echoing the show’s factory‑robot chaos. The second half shifts to a Space Bridge chase, where the Autobots pursue Megatron through the portal and onto Cybertron. All the dialogue is performed by the original animated series voice cast, giving the DS adventure an authentic feel.
