Summary

Super Scribblenauts turns the DS touchscreen into a sandbox of word‑power. Using the stylus, you tell Maxwell’s magical notebook to create anything you can imagine—then tweak it with adjectives that change color, size, material or behavior, even stacking several descriptors like “big flying purple pregnant octopus.” The game’s side‑scrolling puzzles revolve around gathering Starites by deploying these custom objects, and the new Create‑a‑Tron lets you mash items together for unpredictable results.

The level editor gives players a playground to build adventure missions or carefree labs, while hint tokens called Ollars can be bought for a nudge when you’re stuck. Refined physics and tighter controls address complaints from the original, making the stylus feel crisp and the joystick responsive.

Critics praised the inventive adjective system, earning an 81 Metacritic score and nominations for gameplay engineering, though some felt the challenge could be deeper. Overall, the title is celebrated for its boundless creativity and polished controls, proving the notebook is still magic in the hands of the imagination.

Storyline

In Super Scribblenauts, Maxwell the protagonist wields his magical Notepad to hunt down glowing Starites scattered across the sky. The levels are organized into constellations that you pick from the main menu, each constellation forming a themed set of puzzles.

The climax pits Maxwell against his own evil doppelganger, who snatches the final Starite and flees to the moon. A frantic chase ends with the doppelganger’s UFO crashing, apparently destroying the last Starite. The game then tells you to “write the answer” to finish the final level.

After the main story is cleared, two bonus constellations appear, offering extra stages that simply challenge you to reach the Starite.
