Summary
Suikoden Tierkreis feels like a love letter to the Suikoden multiverse. Konami’s DS entry lets you pilot a young protagonist through the "Million World" using both the touchpad and D‑pad, while the upper screen paints the scenery and seasons and the lower screen handles menus and text. Battles are turn‑based and speed‑driven; you slot up to four heroes, and certain pairings unlock powerful combo abilities. The title’s music was crafted by veterans such as Norikaku Miura, Yoshino Aoki, Masaharu Iwata and Kaori Komuro, and features Satomi Takasugi’s vocals on both the opening “Tears in the Sky” and ending “Tierkreis”. The Wi‑Fi option lets you trade characters, items, and even exclusive battle scenarios with another cartridge. All of this comes wrapped in a theme that celebrates the infinite possibilities of the future.
Storyline
Suikoden Tierkreis drops you into a parallel world of the Suikoden multiverse, the Infinity. The land is a patchwork of nations and tribes populated by humans, Roar (kobold‑like creatures), Porpos‑kin (penguin‑dolphin hybrids), and the horned giants called Auster. You play as an energetic young man from Citro Village, thrust into a conflict that reaches beyond his home.
The core of the story is assembling the legendary 108 heroes to stand against the Order of the One True Way, a cult‑like organization preaching that the future is fixed. The Order seeks to summon The One King using the Chronicles—memories from various worlds—to merge everything into a single, predetermined reality. Your task is to rally allies, uncover the truth behind the One King, and decide whether destiny can be rewritten.
