Summary

SpongeBob SquarePants Featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom (often shortened to Globs of Doom) feels like a nostalgic mash‑up of my favorite Saturday mornings. The DS version lets you bounce through six distinct worlds—Bikini Bottom, Zim’s Town, Amity Park, Retroville, Pupununu Village, and even outer space—each kick‑starting with a high‑speed sliding segment that feels like an endless runner wrapped in platforming.

Todd Masten’s soundtrack is the real standout: he peppers the score with a theremin for that 1950s sci‑fi vibe and slips in odd‑time 7/4 sections that keep the music surprisingly fresh. Every boss battle gets its own musical cue, layering heavy techno on the more intergalactic stages.

Critics were split. GameRankings gave it a middling 66 % while IGN rated it 5.5/10, and many reviewers described the experience as a "button‑mar" for kids under twelve. Still, if you’re after a simple co‑op romp starring SpongeBob and a crew of nostalgic Nicktoons, it’s worth a quick rental.

Storyline

SpongeBob and Squidward’s morning walk is shattered when orange asteroids rain down on Bikini Bottom, dropping a chunk of alien goo that brain‑washes Squidward into a zombie‑like follower of a Morphoid.
Jimmy Neutron rescues the trio, taking them to the Mawgu Lair on Volcano Island where they meet Danny Phantom, Tak, and an Evil Syndicate made up of Technus, Beautiful Gorgeous, Thloc and Plankton. Zim and Dib also arrive, Zim joining the heroes out of curiosity while Dib sides with the Syndicate.
Equipped with personality‑themed weapons, the group teleports back to free Gary, Squidward and Patrick, battles an army of Morphoids and a giant, goo‑possessed Bubble Bass. The Wise Old Crab reveals a hidden spacecraft, the Vessel of Portentia, which needs four components.
The heroes travel to Zim’s town, Amity Park, Retroville and Pupununu Village, retrieving each component while SpongeBob repeatedly absorbs goo, allowing the Morphoid leader Globulous Maximus to speak through him. After assembling the Vessel they launch into space, defeat Globulous, and face a split ending: the Syndicate can trap Globulous in a glass jar, or the heroes can destroy the Vessel on the moon, freeing the universe and leaving the villains stranded.
