Summary

SpongeBob's Truth or Square on the DS packs a surprisingly generous toolbox right from the start – every transformation and attack is unlocked immediately. I can flip between a sledgehammer‑wielding SpongeBob, a water‑spouting Waterbob, a giant spatula, a spinning blade (or even a pirate‑ship steering wheel), MuscleBob BuffPants, and an explosive cannon without any grind. The handheld also throws in a handful of exclusive mini‑games and special modes that never appeared on the console versions, giving the handheld a distinct flavor. Adding to the mix are two bonus stages – Bikini Bottom and The Krusty Krab – that are unique to the DS (and its PSP sibling). Storyline

In SpongeBob’s Truth or Square, the Krabby Patty formula is entrusted to SpongeBob for Mr. Krabs’ eleventy‑seventh anniversary party, but a party‑fueled brain‑freeze leaves him clueless about its location. He enlists the help of his arch‑rival Plankton, who offers a memory‑machine that lets SpongeBob replay his happiest moments—because, according to him, sadness erases memory. As SpongeBob revisits scenes like his fry‑cook debut, karate lessons with Sandy, his first Christmas, a 24‑hour shift lost in Rock Bottom, jellyfishing with Patrick, and a fake brawl at the Salty Spittoon, he battles robot versions of Patrick, Squidward and other friends that Plankton has planted to extract the formula’s whereabouts. The climax reveals the formula was supposedly in the Krusty Krab safe, prompting Plankton to turn the Chum Bucket into a massive Plankton‑Bot, which SpongeBob destroys. In the end, the paper he hands to Mr. Krabs turns out to be a lottery ticket, while the real formula had been in Mr. Krabs’ back pocket all along, leaving SpongeBob bewildered.
