Summary

Sonic Rush Adventure transports the classic 2‑D speed of Rush onto the DS while adding a breezy high‑seas twist that the dual screens and touchscreen love. Starting from Windmill Village, I explore seven islands filled with platform loops, springboard boosts and hidden treasure chests. Tails assembles four ships from materials earned in stages, and each voyage is a stylus‑driven mini‑game. Bosses erupt in 3‑D with a dynamic camera that follows the battle.
The game grades every run from a top‑tier “S” to a modest “C,” and sprinkles roughly a hundred side missions—time attacks, ring‑scarce challenges, and extra tasks that reward new music tracks or visual upgrades for Southern Island. Gather all Chaos Emeralds and Blaze’s Sol Emeralds to unlock a secret ending with an extra boss. The soundtrack, composed by Tomoya Ohtani, Seirou Okamoto and Mariko Nanba, mixes tropical vibes and hip‑hop beats, preserving the Rush feel while embracing the adventure setting. Notably, it was the first Sonic game Nintendo published internationally, later released in South Korea in 2009.

Storyline

Sonic Rush Adventure follows Sonic and Tails after a storm hits the Tornado, sending it into a vortex. They wake on a remote island of an alternate‑dimension archipelago and meet Marine, a raccoon who wants to be a sailor. Sonic gathers ship parts while Tails builds Marine’s boat, then they test a waterbike they made.

Exploring nearby islands, they run into Captain Whisker, a robotic pirate after the Jeweled Scepter. Blaze the Cat appears, saying the storm dragged Sonic’s crew into her world and that she’s already hunting the relic. Sonic, Blaze and Marine storm Whisker’s fortress, defeat his first mate Johnny and destroy the Ghost Titan, sinking the pirate ship.

In the ending the scepter is taken by Doctor Eggman and Eggman Nega, who power a giant mech to turn Blaze’s world into Eggmanland. Using Chaos and Sol Emeralds, Sonic and Blaze become Super Sonic and Burning Blaze and destroy the mech. Tails builds a craft with both Emerald sets, and the heroes sail away, promising to meet again while Marine thanks them and vows to become a captain.
