Summary

I love diving into Rockin' Pretty, the rhythm game where you guide one of four teenage girls toward rock‑star fame. The DS stylus becomes my guitar pick, drum stick, keyboard, or bass strap as I tap and strum to a lineup of pop‑rock tracks, chasing the rising pile of stars that hovers above the note track. I can dial the challenge from easy to hard, or let AutoPlay show me the perfect performance when I just want to admire the choreography.

The star counter isn’t just a score—it fuels a shop where outfits, hairstyles, and even new instrument skins are up for grabs, letting me personalize each band member. Because the DS supports local wireless, I’ve traded custom gear with friends and even set up head‑to‑head jam sessions, comparing applause and star totals. In Europe the game is better known as Diva Girls: Making the Music, but the core fun stays the same: a lively, stylish rhythm experience that feels like a backstage pass to a teenage pop‑rock dream.

Storyline

Every year the Rockin' Pretty contest draws bands from across the country, promising a record deal and stardom. Mai, a hopeful guitarist, watches a DVD of the competition in the Rockin' Hits Studio lobby and dreams of joining. Her friend Ken, a former participant who works at the Instrument Center, introduces her to his sister Kara, the bassist who needs a new guitarist. After a successful jam of “See you again,” Kara invites Mai into the group, forming Starlight.

Starlight’s lineup solidifies with Mio on keyboards, Reena on drums, and Kara leading. Their first gig at Central Park draws a crowd but is eclipsed by the boy band The Dreamboats, so they seek help from former contestant Michelle at the Dress‑up Boutique. Michelle secures a slot at Star Café, where owner‑DJ H‑Star praises their soul despite limited skill.

After a second‑chance round at Melody Mall, Starlight, now playing “Fluttering Heart” and “Happy Sunday,” earns a semi‑final spot. A last‑minute concert at Symphony Park, arranged by Ken, boosts their confidence, and in the semi‑finals DJ H‑Star announces Starlight and The Dreamboats as finalists. In the final they thank supporters and close with “Rockin’ Nova.”
