Four unlikely heroes set out on the quest: Surf Flood, a member of the Shiiru clan who lives with his sister Selas, whose once‑bright cheerfulness has faded; Kuurie Le Grasseld of the proper Kris clan, ladylike at home but acting like one of the guys when she’s away; Tolon, a boy from the shapeshifting Skoo clan, recognizable by the feathers he wears despite his ever‑changing form; and Enju Fullhorn, a short, weak Ain‑clan man who prefers to spend his time buried in books. Together they travel the lands, seeking each lost happiece to bring happiness back to everyone.
