Summary
Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party on the DS turns the handheld into a chaotic TV studio where Rabbids hijack broadcasts with bite‑size challenges. The game is built entirely around minigames, organized into themed channels such as X‑TRM Sports (yak downhill racing, Jackass‑style stunts), a plunger‑shooting gallery, dance‑offs, wrestling bouts and a rock‑band‑style rhythm test. A special touch‑screen puzzle in the “Prison Fake” mini‑game lets you swipe to locate a hidden item. Up to eight friends can compete in a turn‑based pass‑the‑controller mode, while random “ads” flash brief micro‑games that award bonus points. The DS version swapped out a handful of Wii titles for brand‑new challenges tailored to the dual screen. Critics were split: Metacritic sits at 73, IGN’s DS review gave a 4/10, while Nintendo Life scored it 8/10 and it even earned Family Game nominations from the AIAS and IGN. By early 2009 the title had moved 1.5 million copies worldwide, proving the Rabbids’ brand of absurd party fun still resonated.
Storyline
After the events of the second game, the Rabbids’ invasion of Earth leads them to chase Rayman when his disguise is exposed. A lightning strike sends the Rabbids down the TV antenna and traps them inside the television, where they merge with the set and become cartoonish versions that appear on their own channels – Trash TV, Groove On, Shake It, The Raving Channel, Cult Movies, X‑TRM Sports, Macho TV, and the hidden No Brainer Channel.
Rayman spends the week trying to get rid of the noisy intruders. On Monday he pulls the plug, on Tuesday he punches the screen and slaps an ice pack on it, causing cracks. Wednesday’s taped‑up TV is returned by annoyed moles, Friday’s throw into the toilet is thwarted by a hook that keeps flushing, and Saturday’s sink‑drowning attempt only shakes the house.
On Sunday he finally smashes the TV with his shoe while watching a football game, freeing the Rabbids and returning them to their original form. He bolts from the house as they give chase, leaving one stubborn Rabbid to claim the abandoned home.
