Summary

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix drops the classic square grid for a sleek hex‑shaped board where gravity reacts to your surroundings – tiles fall straight down in orbit, but drift from your last move when you’re adrift in open space. The match‑3 combat pits customized ships against each other; red, yellow and green gems fuel weapons, engines and computers, while blue recharges shields, purple fuels psi powers and silver yields intel that persists between battles.

Beyond ship fights, the game sprinkles in a handful of specialty puzzles. Hacking leap‑gates forces you to copy a predetermined color sequence under a timer, mining asteroids rewards material extraction through careful matching, and crafting lets you fuse raw gems into ship parts. Later crew members unlock haggling – a discount‑driven board where black tokens replace falling gems – and rumours, which challenge you to survive turns without detonating nuke tokens.

The title delivers over 30 hours of single‑player content, plus online multiplayer for up to four pilots, and a steady stream of DLC ships, items and faction missions. Critics on both GameRankings and Metacritic settled around a 75 percent mark, praising the variety while noting that luck can sometimes outweigh skill.

Storyline

In Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (often just Galactrix) you play as a rogue pilot hired by the MRI megacorporation, scouting the galaxy for clues to an intergalactic mystery that could decide the universe’s fate. The future setting features jump‑gate networks linking dozens of planetary systems, each ruled by one of four human megacorporations—MRI, Lumina, CyTech, and Trident—who constantly vie for supremacy.

As you explore, you encounter alien factions such as the lizard‑like Vortraag, silicon‑based Krystalli, and the tourist‑targeted Elysians, as well as hostile pirates and the soulless experiments of MRI. Crew members you recruit bring unique abilities that expand your arsenal and resources, while interactions with the megacorporations and alien races gradually reveal a hidden threat that could endanger the whole galaxy.
