Summary
My Frogger Toy Trials lets you slip between two roles on the Nintendo DS. In the hub area you steer Kyle—the default hero—around a colorful world, unlocking levels and entering quirky mini‑games. When you dive into a Frogger stage, the classic frog hops across a grid while you tap the touch‑pad or speak into the microphone to solve puzzles and snag power‑ups the Hero tosses his way.
The Hero isn’t just a guide; he hands out health boosts and special items that help Frogger clear each grid. Beyond the core runs, the game nests a range of bite‑sized challenges that can be played solo or in multiplayer mode. Tobi Inc.’s “Toy Pet” contest stitches a story element into the adventure—a design contest for a personalized toy pet, promising the winner a single wish if they win.
Stephen Geering composed most of the soundtrack, while the iconic Frogger theme came from Mutato Muzika. Critics landed the title at an average 66 on Metacritic, noting its playful mixture of classic hopping and DS‑specific gimmicks.
Storyline
My Frogger Toy Trials opens with a young boy named Kyle glued to a TV ad for Toy Pets, a competitive tournament that spans multiple worlds and levels. A cloaked figure called Shadow appears shortly after, delivering Kyle a mysterious Toy Pet egg.\n\nOne month later, on tournament day, Kyle’s egg is still unhatched. He meets his friend Lucy, who’s also entered, and after a quick chat with his mother they head to the arena, hoping Kyle’s pet will be a dragon.\n\nWhen the egg finally cracks, a tiny frog emerges instead of the expected dragon. Kyle scoffs at the creature, which Lucy dubs "Froggy," and the disheartened frog leaps into a nearby sewer.\n\nThere, a Toy Pet frog named Lumpy—owned by the enigmatic Agent T—rescues him. Kyle renames the amphibian Frogger, and the two forge a partnership to tackle the tournament together.
