The classic Ouendan, recognizable by their long gakuran jackets, still appear alongside the Cheergirls in blue outfits, while a new rival team from Asahi Town shows up in blue military‑style uniforms (their Cheer Maidens wear modest scarlet cheer outfits). Each stage tells an unrelated story, yet characters often pop up as background or supporting figures in other scenarios, such as the pottery maker from the original game who shows up at a hot‑spring resort.

In the climactic final stage—split into two parts like the “Agents” finale—all the characters converge. The original and rival Ouendan join forces to lead a worldwide cheer, aiming to revive the sun’s activity and prevent an ice age from freezing the planet.
