Summary
Miami Law (known overseas as Miami Crisis) mixes point‑and‑click adventure with high‑octane action on the Nintendo DS. Players choose between Miami Police Detective Law Martin, who pilots car chases and shoot‑outs, and FBI Agent Sara Starling, whose sections are built around clue analysis and puzzle solving. The split format lets you flip between gritty investigations and rapid‑fire confrontations, while optional Sudoku and Texas Hold’em mini‑games offer a quiet break from the case.
The game was created by Japan’s Hudson Soft but was localized first for North America by Gaijinworks, marking the publisher’s debut project. Veteran translator Victor Ireland even led a research trip to Miami to capture the city’s vibe, and he hired local hip‑hop duo Miami Beat Wave to supply fifteen original tracks that sound straight out of South Beach. Though the blend of 3‑D action scenes and 2‑D story panels gave the title a distinctive look, critics were split, resulting in mixed scores on Metacritic and a 29/40 from Famitsu.
Storyline
Miami Law, a DS title inspired by prime‑time crime dramas, puts you in the shoes of two investigators. Officer Law Martin of the Miami Police Department and FBI agent Sara Starling team up to dismantle a domestic terrorist cell threatening the city. The game lets you switch between Martin and Starling at key moments, and each choice reshapes the narrative and clues you uncover. Their combined efforts drive a tense, branching storyline that reflects the gritty feel of television procedurals.
