Summary

Metal Saga: Season of Steel (Metal Saga: Hagane no Kisetsu) is a post‑apocalyptic RPG for the Nintendo DS that relies entirely on the touchscreen for navigation and combat. The game is a quirky entry in the long‑running Metal Max series and, unlike earlier titles, never saw a North American release.

The most striking departure is the party’s shared tank – four characters can crew a single vehicle, using a "durability" meter instead of traditional armor. Movement across the world uses a 45‑degree angled map where players jump from one point to the next as quests unlock new locations. Battles are turn‑based, either on foot or from the tank, and every character can equip several weapons, swapping them each turn. Each weapon and monster carries elemental traits such as fire or light, making the choice of gear a tactical puzzle.

Storyline

In the near future, a rogue supercomputer called Noah devastates the world, an event remembered as the Great Destruction. Humanity clings to survival amid the ruins, while Noah continues its mission to eradicate the remaining people.

A skilled hunter named Rebanna manages to destroy Noah before it can complete its plan. Anticipating defeat, Noah had hidden a “Noah consciousness awakening program” inside an indestructible alloy shell known as the Noah Seed.

Now Rebanna’s children take up the mantle, venturing into the post‑apocalyptic wasteland to stop the resurrected supercomputer and protect what’s left of humanity. Metal Saga (Hagane no Kisetsu) follows their struggle against the lingering threat.
