Summary

Lego Battles: Ninjago lets you raise an army of builders and heroes, then throw them into real‑time strategy battles that feel like a mini‑Ninjago movie. You recruit seven ninja heroes, each coming in three versions, and research two of those upgrades while unlocking a pair of elemental "spells" to turn the tide. The DS screen becomes a busy battlefield where you place a keep, brick bank, mine, barracks and a tower that can be elemental‑ upgraded for extra firepower, all while hauling bricks back and forth to keep production flowing.

The game offers three distinct playstyles: follow mission‑driven stories to recover powerful weapons and restore the world’s harmony, flip the script and fight as the mischievous Skulkin, or square off against a friend in split‑screen multiplayer where the highest‑ranked army claims victory. Although it borrows characters from other LEGO lines like Agents and Mars Mission, the core feel is pure Spinjitzu action. Reviewers were lukewarm, landing the title at a 59 Metacritic score and earning middling marks from major outlets, but the mix of building, spell‑casting and tactical combat still makes it a charming flashpoint for retro handheld fans.

Storyline

LEGO Battles: Ninjago drops you into the world of the ninja, where the core mission is training and hunting down the four golden weapons hidden deep in the underworld. The game follows the ninjas as they master their Spinjitzu skills while racing against time to retrieve each relic. Their quest drives the action across varied levels that echo the series’ iconic settings.

A rival skeleton army, led by the fearsome Samukai, also hunts the golden weapons, creating a constant clash between the two forces. This skeleton storyline mirrors the pilot episode of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, though the game introduces minor differences to keep the gameplay fresh. The dual pursuit of the weapons fuels the conflict that defines the game's narrative.
