Storyline

The Last Window: The Secret of Cape West is set in Los Angeles during December 1980, a year after the events of its predecessor. The story unfolds in the soon‑to‑be‑demolished Cape West Apartments, owned by Margaret “Mags” Patrice, where ex‑detective Kyle Hyde has just been fired from Red Crown for slacking and receives a mysterious letter.

Hyde’s investigation pulls him into the tangled lives of the building’s residents and uncovers a priceless diamond known as the Scarlet Star. He learns that the diamond is linked to his late father Chris’s death, reunites with Mila from the original game, and discovers a hidden murder‑and‑fire incident on the sealed fourth floor. The trail also reveals an old partner of Chris, a crime ring called Condor that operates under the Nile syndicate, an employee secretly working for Nile, and a concealed Condor room reachable only by entering a secret code into the elevator—explaining the elevator’s technical problems.

During the case Hyde briefly regains his job at Red Crown. In the climax he locates the Scarlet Star, has a long conversation with Mags—who had already found the secret room—and ultimately decides to send the diamond to a museum, bringing the mystery to a close.
