Summary
Last Bullet on the DS feels like a quirky crossover between a mystery visual novel and a tactical sniper simulator. You step into the shoes of Karin Hibiki, a high‑school girl with a surprisingly deadly side‑gig, and the world she navigates is brought to life by Jū Ayakura’s distinctive character art. The game shifts between chat‑filled adventure chapters—where you swap outfits, solve puzzles and chase clues—and tense sniper missions that Tsukasa Sakuma, a sympathetic teacher, hands you as homework. Each mission lets you line up multiple targets, but you’re throttled by a strict round limit, an unforgiving countdown, and environmental factors like rain or your own shaky breath. A brief concentration mode pops up for those clutch moments, though you must recharge it before the next go‑or‑die shot. The mix of everyday school life and high‑stakes marksmanship makes the title oddly compelling, especially as FuRyu’s very first DS debut.
Storyline
In Last Bullet, the story follows first‑year college student Karin Hibiki, a bright‑hearted but scarred teen whose mother died early and whose father vanished under mysterious circumstances. With the support of her friends, she regains confidence, only to discover a shadowy organization targeting her life. To survive, Karin takes up the role of a sniper, using her natural talent for sports and shooting.
Guided by cryptic clues from Tsukasa Sakuma, a cool‑headed teacher who hides a deeper involvement, Karin is drawn into a dangerous investigation. Along the way, her longtime friend Daiki Sakai, who still harbors feelings for her, aids her quest. Together they chase the truth behind her father's disappearance and the threats looming from the secretive group.
