Summary

Kirby: Squeak Squad (known overseas as Kirby: Mouse Attack) returns to the DS as a classic side‑scroll platformer, swapping the stylus‑focused control of Canvas Curse for traditional face‑button movement. Kirby still inhales foes to copy their powers, but this title adds a touch‑screen “stomach” that can hold up to five items, including treasure chests that must be managed to unlock rewards. Copy Scrolls let you drag one ability onto another, fusing compatible powers in a nod to Kirby 64’s ability‑mixing system, while mismatches yield random bubbles. Each level hides chests, and larger ones trigger a showdown with a member of the mischievous Squeak Squad. The game also features three DS‑wireless minigames—Treasure Shot, Speedy Teatime, and Smash Ride—providing multiplayer chaos beyond the single‑player adventure.

Storyline

Kirby: Squeak Squad (also known as Kirby: Mouse Attack) kicks off on a lazy afternoon in Dream Land when Kirby’s strawberry shortcake vanishes. He first blames King Dedede, battles the penguin at his Prism Plains castle, and discovers Dedede isn’t the thief. A gang of treasure‑loving mice called the Squeaks swoops in, snatching the cake and Dedede’s loot. Angered, Dedede hurls Kirby toward the fleeing Squeaks, launching the chase.

Kirby tracks the Squeaks to Ice Island, defeats their leader Daroach, and reaches the treasure chest that should hold his dessert. Before he can open it, Meta Knight appears, snatches the chest, and flies off to the Secret Sea. Their battle on the Halberd sends the chest into space, where Daroach grabs it again, releasing a dark cloud that possesses him. The cloud drifts toward the distant Gamble Galaxy, prompting Kirby to follow.

In the Gamble Galaxy, Kirby confronts the possessed Daroach and the true villain, Dark Nebula, the sealed entity inside the chest. After a hard‑won victory, Dark Nebula’s form dissipates as a black star, and Kirby returns home. The Squeaks, humbled, finally hand back the shortcake in a post‑credits scene, letting Kirby enjoy his snack at last.
