What truly sets it apart is its pedigree. PlatinumGames and Nude Maker teamed up under Atsushi Inaba and director Hifumi Kono, bringing together veterans from Capcom, Studio Nue, and the anime world. The character art by Takeyasu and Iwamoto and ship designs from Kazutaka Miyatake were even celebrated in a short anime produced by Gonzo and Production I.G.

Critics praised its narrative depth, the expansive soundtrack by Masafumi Takada, and the deep customization, while many complained about the steep difficulty curve and a sometimes clunky menu. Storyline

In Infinite Space, as a second‑class citizen on the back‑water planet Ropesk, Yuri dreams of leaving his world. Forbidden from space travel, he pawns an ancient Epitaph to buy a ship and hires the Zero‑G Dog mercenary Nia to escape. Yuri’s sister Kira is taken hostage, prompting him to free her and pursue the pirate Valantin, who stole his Epitaph.
The conflict drags Yuri and his growing crew through battles against the Empire, Holy Nation of Adis and mysterious Overlords. After the Empire conquers the Small Magellanic Cloud, a supernova destroys a Void Gate, halting their advance into Large Magellanic Cloud. Ten years later Yuri, imprisoned by Galactic Federation, escapes and helps LMC nation Regeinland unite the Federation against Lugovanians. He learns he can bend reality within Flux Sectors, a power tied to his true nature as an Observer created by the Overlords.
With allies like Cico, the future emperor, and a sacrificed Valantin, Yuri reaches the original Solar System where the Overlords’ Void Gate lies. In a final showdown the Lugovalian emperor Taranis destroys the gate, ending the Phage threat. A post‑credit scene shows Yuri steering into a Flux Sector, using his abilities to restore Kira as a human.
