Summary
Homie Rollerz lets you hop behind the wheel of one of ten street‑style Homies, each rolling in a uniquely tuned kart that you can beef up with “respect points” earned by pulling off tricks and nailing races. The tracks are packed with hidden shortcuts and wild gimmicks that reflect the colorful world of David Gonzales’ Homies figurines, and the whole package was first previewed at PAX 2007 before making its way to the DS.
The campaign, called the Wizard Circuit, has Vato Wizard promising a single wish to whoever takes the cup, turning every race into a pressure‑cooker sprint. Up to eight friends can connect locally and even four via Nintendo’s Wi‑Fi Connection for chaotic split‑screen mayhem. Critics weren’t kind—its low draw distance, shifty camera and uneven controls landed it a harsh Metacritic score, but the game’s DIY vibe and over‑the‑top cartoon style still hold a quirky charm for collectors.
Storyline
Homie Rollerz pits ten quirky racers, each modeled after the popular Homies collectible figures, against one another on the Nintendo DS. Players choose their favorite Homie and hit the tracks in a series of fast‑paced races.
The whole showdown is organized by an eccentric elder known as Vato Wizard, who claims the power to fulfill wishes. He invites the Homies to compete in his Wizard Circuit, promising a life‑changing reward.
The ultimate prize is a single wish granted to the racer who captures the cup at the end of the circuit. That promise drives each Homie to push their wheels to the limit.
