Summary

Final Fantasy IV on the Nintendo DS revamps the SNES classic as a fully 3D remake, giving every character a playful super‑deformed look and adding voice‑acted cut scenes. The familiar Active Time Battle system stays, but the new Augment System lets you steal class‑specific abilities from enemies and reassign them to any party member, expanding customization far beyond the original.

The DS version also sprinkles in fresh content: Rydia’s summon Whyt can be powered up through stylus‑only minigames, and a New Game Plus carries over rare items and unlocks hidden bosses on the moon and Mt. Ordeals. Namingway now changes his own name to match each job he takes, rewarding players with valuable gear, while Fat Chocobo becomes a portal to the bestiary, video player, and music collection after the item‑limit was removed. Locations like Damcyan, Fabul and Eblan each receive a unique cultural vibe, and the overall difficulty is bumped up, offering tougher boss patterns for veterans.

Storyline

Final Fantasy IV on the Nintendo DS preserves the original storyline that fans fell in love with, while finally adding back bits of script that were missing from the first release. The DS version weaves these lost lines into flashback sequences that deepen the narrative without altering the core plot. One of the new scenes reveals Golbez’s role as a pawn of the dark god Zemus, explaining his ruthless actions early in the game. Additional flashbacks explore the childhoods of Cecil, Kain, and Rosa, showing how their pasts shaped the heroes we follow on their quest. These additions give longtime players fresh insight while keeping the classic adventure intact.
